Streetfront Wins Inaugural Vancouver Alternative Schools Bowling Tournament

The Foundation Program hosted the 1st Annual Alternative Schools Bowling Tournament at Rev’s Bowling Centre in Burnaby. Over 10 alternative schools were present with more than 150 kids. Scores were recorded for individuals and schools.

Streetfront was lucky enough to win the Team Competition beating out 9 other schools.

Liam Dunn finished 2nd in the boy’s division, a mere 2 points behind the winner.

What a wonderful sight to see with all those kids enjoying themselves.

BC Cross Country Championships

6 Britannia students qualified for November 2nd’s BC Cross Country Championships. Facing the worst weather I have ever seen in 30 years of coaching and competing, these amazing kids laced ’em up and ran their hearts out.

We had a runner in all 4 divisions:
Junior Girl’s: Michelle Chau (gr. 10)
Junior Boy’s: Eero Gaffney; Llewyn Rosberg and Jericho Catungal (all gr. 8’s) Senior Girl’s: Naomi Morcilla (gr. 12)
Senior Boy’s: Kaj Rosberg (gr. 12).

It was a brilliant way to finish a memorable year for Britannia Cross Country.

Way to go Bruins!!!!!!!

Mask Making

Getting into the Halloween spirit was easy for the Streetfront students when creating their very own personalized mask was the order of the day.

Ken, our amazing art teacher, came in equipped for every kid and staff to design, build and then paint their own mask. The kids were so into it. The designs ranged from the macabre to the downright ghoulish. Beware of the masked on Halloween!!!

Amazing Partnership with Rackets and Runners – Vancouver

Today, 8 of our awesome marathon team members went to Rackets and Runners on Oak Street and West 23rd to get outfitted with brand new running shoes. Rackets and Runners has partnered with New Balance Canada to provide running shoes to our Streetfront students.

The kids were so excited to get outfitted by professional staff, who evaluated their specific needs and set them up with amazing New Balance running shoes. After months of training on anything but proper footwear, the kids couldn’t believe what real shoes felt like.

Thanks again to Rackets and Runners and New Balance Canada for investing in the futures of disadvantaged youth. We’ll make you proud when we knock the Seattle Marathon out of the park.
